NIKI ATCHESON'S PRONGHORN

THAYER RIVERS AND HIS B&C PRONGHORN
Thayer Rivers with a Boone & Crockett 16-inch pronghorn taken from our Black Butte lease in October 2005.  This buck had seven-inch bases!  There were many other bucks around in this class this year, but we did not have many hunters.  If you are interested in big antelope, try to draw a tag in central Montana.  Odds are about 60%.  The deadline is June 1.  We can help.

SEVEN-POINT BULL
Joyce Garrels and her husband, Lloyd, climbed the mountain with me, and shot this awesome old seven-point bull right at sunset.  This is a bull I've chased for the past two years, and when taken, was in his decline.  He had lost the last three points off approximately a 55-inch beam fighting, and eventually probably his life, as he was badly gored and emaciated.  This gal can grab brass and throw lead!  Joyce did him a favor.  It's great to see more women hunting all the time.  The bull had 11-inch bases!

KNARLY BUCK
This buck is best described as knarly!  This heavy and tall 6x4 was taken by Adrianna Atcheson.  Her brother, Andrew, took a nice 4x5 whitetail buck at the same time not far away.  And much to my surprise and pleasure, their sister, Alissa, shot a nice 4x4 whitetail (her first deer by herself) in western Montana the same day!  That doesn't happen too often.  Mom and dad were proud that night!

GREAT BULL
Jeff Mortenson with a great bull from our area.  This bull grossed 356 and was a 7x7.  We had a fabulous elk season once again, with five hunters taking excellent bulls (3 7x7s and 2 6x6 bulls).  100% success for nine years now.  What more can we say?

NON-TYPICAL WHITETAIL
Our deer friend, Professor DON MUNSON, with a really nice non-typical whitetail buck.  Don gave us a health scare earlier this year, but he survived it and we look forward to his 5th hunt with us in 2006.  Every day is a Happy Day!

4X4 WHITETAIL
Ron Rice came back for his second hunt with us and scored on a great  heavy and wide 4x4 whitey.  His son, Nathan, took a fine mulie buck as well.   The joy in Nathan's eyes after his successful stalk was priceless, and motivates me greatly to keep introducing kids to hunting as much as possible.
