Ever since my sons were old enough to responsibly handle a rifle and patient enough to hunt, my hunting trips have come more complicated.  For starters, their mother will not permit them to miss more than one day of school, perhaps two if I’m willing to put up with a lot of grousing and the evil eye for a few days.  This significantly reduces my hunting opportunities, since I am thus required to find game to hunt with seasons that coincide with school vacations, or game that doesn’t take more than three or four days to hunt if I can find a long weekend during the season.

Marc Hansen takes TWO Snow Sheep

2006 Koryak and Kamchatka Snow Sheep with Outfitter Ansten Ostbye

7 August: I am on my way to Russia to hunt Koryak and Kamchatka Snow Sheep with Ansten Østbye.   I hunted with Ansten for Marco Polo last year in Tajikistan and had a great time.  Ansten is a very capable guide and he knows his way around Russia.  I harvested a Top Ten Marco Polo ram with Ansten and am hoping for similar success on this trip.  He indicated he had spotted a Top Ten Kamchatka Snow Sheep and we are going to try and get him.

Jack Atcheson set this trip up over two years ago and both of us have waited in anticipation for the hunt.  Jack and I have only hunted together a few times and I really enjoy his company.  <...

Dall Sheep Hunt with Jim Kedrowski


Atchesons,
I returned recently from a fine time of Dall sheep hunting with Jim Kedrowski in Alaska.  I certainly enjoyed the hunt, the country and the new friendships that were made.  Thought I’d share a picture.  The ram was a ten-year-old with 37¼” on both sides and 14-inch bases.  We had lots of rain, as you can see in the picture, but an enjoyable time.  Jim was a pleasure to hunt with and Lori was a fine cook/hostess.  Couldn’t have had a better time.

GRAHAM HINGESTON WITH HHK SAFARIS IN ZIMBABWE

Andy and Steph at Riverside Ranch with HHK Safaris were wonderful hosts. The accommodations, food and libations made for a most enjoyable stay.
Our Professional Hunter, Mike Fynn, was a great fit.  We hunted plains game and birds and fished and appreciated his knowledge of Africa, its wildlife and its people. He also knew just the right moment and vista to choose for a cold Castles Beer.
 
The Eland in the photos was a big one. Its steaks also grilled very well back at Riverside Ranch.
